Binary stars are very unique tools for determining absolute properties of stars. Since we are calibrating our stellar models based on these data, we need to understand the effect of binarity on the components evolutions.
Although the role of mass transfer has been known for half century, some a priori assumptions needs to be revised. In this talk, I would present preliminary results on the efficiency of mass transfer based on the latest observational data. The effect of mass and angular momentum loss for producing Algol binaries will be discussed.
