Iva Dasović was born in 1984. After finishing elementary and high school in Otočac, Iva went to study physics at Faculty of Science at the University of Zagreb in autumn of 2003. She earned her diploma in physics-geophysics (equivalent to Bologna’s Master in Physics-Geophysics) in January of 2009, specialising in seismology. In the same year she started to work as Research and teaching assistant at Andrija Mohorovičić Geophysical Institute at Department of Geophysics, Faculty of Science, University of Zagreb, and she enrolled Ph.D. studies in physics-geophysics at the same Faculty. She successfully defended her dissertation entitled Attenuation of seismic waves beneath the Dinarides in May 2015 supervised by Prof. Marijan Herak. This research was a part of a nationally funded project Seismicity of Croatia. Iva is a teaching assistant on several graduate courses: Seismology III and IV, Selected chapters of seismology and up to recently Engineering seismology. Iva has participated in International Training Course on Seismology, Seismic Data Analysis, Hazard Assessment and Risk Mitigation held in 2011 in Potsdam (organised by GFZ), Germany, Workshop on Geophysical Data Analysis and Assimilation in 2012 in Trieste (organised by ICTP), Italy, and Young Seismologists and Engineers Training Course on ambient noise measurements in 2014 in Istanbul (organised by ESC), Turkey.
Iva was rewarded with a Rector’s award in 2007 for her student research work in attenuation of coda waves. In 2013 she received Outstanding Young Scientist Award from the Faculty of Science.
Besides her research and teaching, Iva was involved in organisation of International scientific meeting Geophysical Challenges of the 21st Century (2nd December 2011) and NATO SfP 984374 3rd Workshop (28–29 October 2013) both held in Zagreb. She was a Department of Geophysics’ coordinator for University Fair for eight years (2010–2013 and 2015–2017). In 2014 she was the coordinator for Open Day of Department of Geophysics.
Iva is a leading author of three published peer-reviewed papers (WoS) and has published two papers resulting from her work with students. She participated in eight international scientific conferences with poster presentations (ESC 2010, Geophysical Challenges of the 21st Century 2011, IUGG 2015, EGU 2017, ESC 2018), oral presentations (EGU 2011, 2ECEES 2014, ESC 2016, ESC 2018) and invited talk (EGU 2021).
Note: this list of papers is located in an maintained by the Ruđer Bošković Institute which is in charge of the Croatian Scientific Bibliography Database (CROSBI). This link will take you to the appropriate CROSBI page of this person, containing a list of papers they have themselves entered in the database.
