COURSE CONTENT: Introduction to philosophy of science. Epistemology and ontology. Chemistry through history of scientific ideas and principles. Problem of autonomy of chemistry. Holism, reductionism and emergence. Chemistry between physics and biology.
COURSE OUTCOME: General scientific knowledge, To acquire basic knowledge about the chemical concepts and their historical development, It is also expected that students will be able to:
- recognize the principles of the scientific methodology
- recognize the philosophical principles that have its origin in chemical science
- to became able to systematize chemistry within other sciences
- to comprehend the historical developments of basic chemical concepts
such as element, structure, periodicity, reactivity, synthesis, electronic theory
