Description:
The aim of the course is to acquire basic knowledge about water and its geoecological significance, about the hydrosphere and certain forms of water, knowledge of the elements of rivers and basins and runoff regimes. The aim is also to know the hydrological and hydrogeographic characteristics of Croatia and the role of water in modern society.
Course content:
1. Hydrology as an umbrella science of water and hydrogeography as part of water science.
2. Special properties of water and their geoecological significance.
3. Hydrological cycle and its components.
4. Quantity and distribution of water on Earth, water balance on land, availability of drinking water.
5. Precipitation and evapotranspiration as elements of the water balance.
6. Underground water.
7. Ice and snow.
8. Lakes and swamps.
9. Origin and characteristics of liquids.
10. Elements of the watershed.
11. Flow regimes, classification according to Parde.
12. Hydromorphology and runoff mechanisms.
13. Use of water.
14 and 15. Hydrogeographic features of Croatia.

5. Creation of hydrographs, interpretation of hydrographs.
