LEARNING OUTCOMES:
1. To describe basic classification of analytical chemistry methods
2. To apply qulitative analytical techniques in model sample analysis
3. To explain principal characteristics of titrimetric methods
4. To apply titrimetric techniques in quantitative determination of selected analytes
5. To classify instrumental methods according to interaction of radiation and matter
6. To describe analytical characteristics of selected atomic spectrometry methods
7. To describe analytical characteristics of selected molecular spectroscopy methods
8. To apply instrumental analytical techniques in real sample analysis
COURSE CONTENT:
LECTURES
1. Analitics: sample, analyte, sampling, solution preparation
2. Gravimetry: basic concept, quantitative applications
3. Titrimetry: primary and secondary standards, final point determination
4. Acid-base titrations
5. Complexometry
6. Precipitation titrations
7. Redox titrations
8. Introduction in instrumental analysis
9. Atomic absorption spectrometry
10. Atomic emission spectrometry
11. UV/VIS spectrophotometry
12. Vibrational methods (IR and Raman spectroscopy)
13. Nuclear magnetic resonance
SEMINARS: problem solving following the lecture unit
LABORATORY EXERCISES:
1. Qualitative analysis of biological important analytes (Cu, Fe, Na, K, NO3 -, NO2-, organic amines, urea)
2. Chemical analysis of soil ( gravimetry of groups)
3. Kjeldahl analysis of nitrogen ( acid-base titrations)
4. Determination of organic constituents in water (redox titrations)
5. Determination of phosphates by UV/VIS spectrophotometry
6. Analysis of kidney stones (vibrational spectroscopy)
7. Flame photometric determination of sodium (atomic spectrometry)
