Description:
COURSE CONTENT:
Properties of matter. Structure of atom. Measurable properties: spectra, ionization energy, electron affinity, electronegativity, size of atom. Periodic system of elements. Properties of pure substances: physical and chemical properties, phase diagrams. Properties and composition of mixtures: heterogeneous mixture, colloid systems, homogenous systems (solutions). Thermochemistry. Chemical kinetics. Chemical equilibrium. Acid and base equilibrium. Electrochemistry.

LEARNING OUTCOMES:
Students will be able:
- to critically analyse and apply the primary and secondary schools textbook
- to integrate chemical concepts in primary and secondary schools curriculum
- to adopt and analyse the chemistry school experiments
- to prepare the physical chemistry problems (related with the physical and chemical properties off matter and their relationship with structure, changes of total energy as well as enthalpy and the energy flow (heat and work), rates of chemical reaction and their dependency on concentration and temperature, equilibrium of chemical reactions and electrochemistry)
