Description:
The aim of this course is to acquire knowledge about the biological activity (mechanisms of action, antioxidant and cytotoxic activity as well as interactions with nucleic acids) of phytochemicals and practical skills in the assessment of different biological activities of extracts and/or compounds isolated from plants.
LEARNING OUTCOMES:
- identify and classify phytochemicals
- evaluate the selection of the appropriate method for a particular biological activity
- distinguish between in vitro and in vivo methods for determining biological activity
- apply the acquired knowledge in the preparation of a poster presentation, design and present it
- evaluate and critically analyze data from the field of traditional medicine
- determine how to concisely and in simple way present results and scientific facts in front of an audience
