Description:
The aim of the course is to present basic methods of molecular biology and genetic manipulation of organisms. The basic principle of methods of mutagenesis, genetic engineering and genome editing, as well as the procedures and methods that are used in molecular diagnostics will be presented and explained. Special emphasis will be placed on the importance of genetically modified organisms (GMOs) in science (targeted genome changes, gene knock down and knock out, gene silencing, and modification with genes from unrelated organisms), and their application in industry (recombinant proteins production) and agriculture (transgenic plants and animals).
