Introduction to parallel computing

All teaching activities will be held in Croatian. However, foreign students in mixed groups will have the opportunity to attend additional office hours with the lecturer and teaching assistants in English to help master the course materials. Additionally, the lecturer will refer foreign students to the corresponding literature in English, as well as give them the possibility of taking the associated exams in English.

Description:
COURSE AIMS AND OBJECTIVES: Introduction to architectures of parallel computers, basic parallel algorithms and their complexity.

COURSE DESCRIPTION AND SYLLABUS:
1. Introduction to parallel computing.
2. Architectures of parallel computers.
3. Models of parallel programming.
4. Complexity measures of parallel algorithms.
5. Basic parallel algorithms. Parallel scan.
6. Matrix multiplication.
This programme is based on similar courses offered by University of California (Berkeley, USA) and MIT (Cambridge, USA).
