All teaching activities will be held in Croatian. However, foreign students in mixed groups will have the opportunity to attend additional office hours with the lecturer and teaching assistants in English to help master the course materials. Additionally, the lecturer will refer foreign students to the corresponding literature in English, as well as give them the possibility of taking the associated exams in English.

Description:
COURSE AIMS AND OBJECTIVES: The objective of this course is to train students for individual use and application of personal computers for their daily needs (document preparation, electronic mail, Internet). This lab is essential for further studies because it is assumed that the personal computers are used in almost all courses.

COURSE DESCRIPTION AND SYLLABUS:
1. Hardware and software. Information and communication technology. Architecture of a PC: computer parts inside the chassis (processor, memory, hard disk, graphics card, etc.), the necessary accessories outside the chasis (keyboard, monitor, mouse), optional accessories outside of the chasis (printer, modem, multimedia and etc.). Software and data (system and application software, data). Computer networks.
2. The basic use of a computer. Operating system, files, text editing. Storing data to different media (disk, floppy disk). Working in a graphical interface (core functions).
3. Applications of computers. Formatting text and documents, spreadsheets. The basic network services, electronic mail, Internet access, information retrieval.
4. Multimedia on the personal computer. Demonstration of features, especially in teaching. Picture formats. Sound formats. Media for storing sound and images (CD, DVD). Recording CDs and DVDs (in various formats).
