Description:

Seismic exploration ? Generation and propagation of seismic waves. Time-distance graph for a layered medium. Instruments and equipment: seismic sources, detectors (geophones), seismographs. Refraction seismic exploration: data acquisition and processing, interpretation methods, complications in refraction interpretation (the blind and hidden layers), applications. Reflection seismic exploration: data acquisition, data processing (the static, the NMO and the residual corrections, the velocity analysis), seismic velocity measuring, interpretation of seismic reflection sections, migration, applications. Well logging.
