Description:
This course is mainly intended for students oriented toward experimental physics - these students will be introduced in more details in functioning of typical detectors and electronics in experimental nuclear physics, as well as in standard packages for the analysis of experimental data and simulations of experiments. Some selected relevant experiments will be studied in more details.
The content of the course divided in topics: Detectors, electronics, data acquisition and analysis in nuclear physics. Specific measurements: particle trajectories, timing measurements, measurements of particle energy and momentum, particle identification. Measurements with detector systems - detail presentation of several relevant experiments in modern nuclear physics: physics motivation, accelerators, detectors, electronics, data analysis. Laboratory exercises.
