for the appointment

 

1) Of an associate to the associate category I position – assistant in natural science, the field of biology, for a fixed term and on a full-time basis, in the framework of the Croatian Science Foundation programme: “Young Researchers’ Career Development – Training New Doctoral Students within investment C3.2 R2-I1 ‘Developing a stimulating career advancement model and conducting leading scientific research in STEM and ICT’ (NPOO-DOK-2023-10)”, to work on the following project: “Microplastic and Nanosilver Interactions in terrestrial and freshwater plants and algae”, at the Division of Molecular Biology of the PMF Department of Biology – 1 person.

6) Of an associate to the associate category I position - assistant in natural science, the field of biology, for a fixed term and on a full-time basis, in the framework of the Croatian Science Foundation programme: “Young Researchers’ Career Development – Training New Doctoral Students within investment C3.2 R2-I1 ‘Developing a stimulating career advancement model and conducting leading scientific research in STEM and ICT’ (NPOO-DOK-2023-10)”, to work on the following project: “Indirect Effect of Global Warming on Mammals Physiological Parameters via High Temperature-Stressed Plant Diet”, at the Division of Botany of the PMF Department of Biology – 1 person.

7) Of an associate to the associate category I position - assistant in natural science, the field of biology, for a fixed term and on a full-time basis, in the framework of the Croatian Science Foundation programme: “Young Researchers’ Career Development – Training New Doctoral Students within investment C3.2 R2-I1 ‘Developing a stimulating career advancement model and conducting leading scientific research in STEM and ICT’ (NPOO-DOK-2023-10)”, to work on the following project: “Island trapped waves as a driver of primary production”, at the Division of Botany of the PMF Department of Biology – 1 person.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS:

The Call is open to applicants of either gender on equal terms.

In addition to the general terms and conditions of employment, for any point of the Call the applicants must satisfy the requirements set out in the Act on Higher Education and Scientific Activity (Official Gazette No 119/22).

 

For all points of the Call, the applicants enclose with their application: a CV, the relevant diploma, an academic transcript of grades received in undergraduate, graduate, or integrated study programmes, a proof of citizenship.

 

The applicants for point 1 must satisfy the following conditions:

  • to have completed a university graduate study programme in molecular biology, a graduate study programme in experimental biology or an integrated undergraduate and graduate study programme in biology and chemistry;
  • the total grade point average achieved at the previous academic levels (undergraduate and graduate) higher than 3.5 (this requirement is not applicable to the candidates who are already doctoral students – such candidates should enclose a proof of enrolment in the doctoral study programme);
  • additional conditions:
  • to have laboratory experience related to the phytotoxicity of nanomaterials, based on the supporting evidence that may include a completed practical lab course with a focus on this research topic, and/or a thesis focusing on this research topic, and/or participation in scientific conferences as a co-author of the poster or oral proceedings with a focus on this research topic.

The applicants for point 2 must satisfy the following conditions:

  • to have completed a university graduate study programme in environmental science;  
  • the total grade point average achieved at the previous academic levels (undergraduate and graduate) higher than 3.5 (this requirement is not applicable to the candidates who are already doctoral students – such candidates should enclose a proof of enrolment in the doctoral study programme);
  • additional conditions:
  • honours and awards received for academic and research excellence, based on the supporting evidence that may include the Rector’s Award, awards for conference presentations or academic excellence, papers, etc.);
  • involvement in scientific-research work, personal presentations at scientific conferences, based on the supporting evidence that may include the cover pages of professional reports and/or letters of recommendation from experts, conference attendance and presentation certificates;
  • experience related to the application of molecular genetic methods, training in molecular genetics and/or genomics, based on the supporting evidence that may include scientific papers, abstracts of conference proceedings, cover pages of professional surveys, training certificates and/or letters of recommendation from experts;
  • participation in ichthyological projects, experience related to the sampling of freshwater fish, based on the supporting evidence that may include project cover pages and/or letters of recommendation from experts;

The applicants for point 3 must satisfy the following conditions:

  • to have completed a university graduate study programme in experimental biology or ecology and nature preservation or molecular biology or an integrated undergraduate and graduate study programme in biology and chemistry;
  • the total grade point average achieved at the previous academic levels (undergraduate and graduate) higher than 3.5 (this requirement is not applicable to the candidates who are already doctoral students – such candidates should enclose a proof of enrolment in the doctoral study programme);
  • additional conditions:
  • honours and awards received for academic or research excellence, based on the supporting evidence that may include scientific papers, professional papers, poster and/or oral presentations at scientific conferences, including student conferences;
  • involvement in scientific-research work, published papers, personal presentations held at scientific conferences, based on the supporting evidence of participation and presentation such as covers of professional reports and/or letters of recommendation from experts, certificates of attendance and presentation at conferences;
  • laboratory experience in zoology, based on the supporting evidence that may include the bachelor’s thesis or the master’s thesis, professional practical coursework, laboratory practical coursework, involvement in research projects of various associations focused on zoology.

The applicants for point 4 must satisfy the following conditions:

  • to have completed a university graduate study programme in molecular biology;
  • the total grade point average achieved at the previous academic levels (undergraduate and graduate) higher than 3.5 (this requirement is not applicable to the candidates who are already doctoral students – such candidates should enclose a proof of enrolment in the doctoral study programme);
  • additional conditions:
  • laboratory experience related to molecular bacterial genetics, based on the supporting evidence that may include the bachelor’s thesis or completed lab practical coursework or conference contributions.

The applicants for point 5 must satisfy the following conditions:

  • to have completed a university graduate study programme in molecular biology;
  • the total grade point average achieved at the previous academic levels (undergraduate and graduate) higher than 3.5 (this requirement is not applicable to the candidates who are already doctoral students – such candidates should enclose a proof of enrolment in the doctoral study programme);
  • additional conditions:
  • laboratory experience related to plant biology and monitoring of gene expression, based on the supporting evidence that may include a certificate/letter of recommendation from the mentor referring to the applicant’s experience relevant to the topic.

The applicants for point 6 must satisfy the following conditions:

  • to have completed a university graduate study programme in molecular biology, a graduate study programme in experimental biology or an integrated undergraduate and graduate study programme in biology and chemistry;
  • the knowledge and/or work experience in the field of natural sciences, the field of biology, attach  proof of knowledge and/or experience, based on the supporting evidence that may include a relevant diploma;
  • the total grade point average achieved at the previous academic levels (undergraduate and graduate) higher than 3.5 (this requirement is not applicable to the candidates who are already doctoral students – such candidates should enclose a proof of enrolment in the doctoral study programme).

The applicants for point 7 must satisfy the following conditions:

  • to have completed a university graduate study programme in molecular biology, a graduate study programme in experimental biology, a graduate study programme in ecology and nature preservation, an integrated undergraduate and graduate study programme in biology and chemistry or a related natural science study programme in the field of biology;
  • the knowledge and/or work experience within the field of natural sciences, the field of biology, attach proof of knowledge and/or experience, based on the supporting evidence that may include a relevant diploma or letter of recommendation
  • the total grade point average achieved at the previous academic levels (undergraduate and graduate) higher than 3.5 (this requirement is not applicable to the candidates who are already doctoral students – such candidates should enclose a proof of enrolment in the doctoral study programme).

For all points of the Call, the applicants who qualify for employment preference under the special regulations should refer to the preference in their application and enclose therewith all evidence as listed in the special regulations governing the priority placement rights, as well as all evidence of eligibility and of absence of any impediment to their exercising of the priority placement rights as stipulated under the special regulations. Such applicants will be given employment preference within this Call over other candidates, under the same terms and conditions of the Call, based on a duly completed, complete and timely application, provided that they meet all the terms and conditions of the Call and that they have achieved top scores in the selection procedure or the selection procedures.

An application shall be deemed duly completed and complete if it contains all the data and supporting documents in keeping with the Call requirements. Incomplete, disorganised, and late applications shall not be taken into consideration, nor will there be a subsequent invitation to the applicants to amend such applications.

 

Foreign nationals applying under point 5 of the Call must provide a Croatian language certificate.

All the points of this Call are open to the candidates who will be enrolled in the doctoral study programme no later than the academic year 2024/2025 (a later enrolment in a doctoral study programme may be approved in exceptional cases).

 

The assessment of the applicants applying under points 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7 may include the following selection procedures:

  • a written test of knowledge, skills and abilities that are relevant for the tasks associated with the positions that are subject to this Call;
  • a test of English proficiency;
  • an interview with the applicants.

All the applicants applying under points 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7 who are fully eligible under the formal terms and conditions of the Call, shall be invited to take part in the first selection procedure. If necessary, the applicants will be invited to take part in additional selection procedures based on the results achieved in the previous selection procedures.

 

The applicants will receive a separate e-mail invitation advising them of the time, place, and the method of the selection procedures that they are being invited to take part in.

 

The applicants who fail to attend any of the selection procedures that they were invited to take part in pursuant to a separate invitation, shall be deemed to have withdrawn from the Call proceedings.

 

The PMF collects and processes personal data of the applicants taking part in the Call for Applications for positions with the aim of verifying qualifications and eligibility in accordance with the Decision on the Collection, Protection and Processing of Personal Data (CLASSIFICATION No: 035-01/18-01/5; FILE No:251-58-10201-18-2).

 

The closing date for the submission of applications for points 1, 2, 4, and 5 of the Call is 30 days after the publication of the Call in the Official Gazette.

 

The closing date for the submission of applications for point 3 of this Call is 60 days after the publication of the Call in the Official Gazette

The closing date for the submission of applications for point 6 and 7 of the Call is 45 days after the publication of the Call in the Official Gazette.

 

The results of the Call will be published on the official website of the PMF: www.pmf.unizg.hr (Competitions).
